Santiago Galacticos win third Baseball5 Copa Venezolana in Cuba
The Santiago Galacticos, led by coach Yoanki Fernández, defeated the Havana Halcones, 2-0 (2-1, 5-3) in the final to claim the III Baseball5 Copa Venezolana, renamed Héroes de la Trocha (Heroes of the Trail, and hosted by the municipality of Venezuela in the Ciego de Avila Province, Cuba, at the Lazaro Santana Field.
The Halcones counted on National Team stars Orland Amador and Briandy Molina.
Havana Metros defeated the local team Faranduleros in the third-place game, 2-0 (6-4, 9-4).
Two Galactocos players earned MVP honours. Alexander Ortiz won the men's trophy, while 14-year-old Rachel de la Caridad Medina won the women's award.
The All-Tournament Team included Orlando Amador and Briandy Molina (Havana Halcones), Ernesto Lachaise (Galacticos), Adis Yudith Espinel (Metros) and Omar López (Mexico).
Yoanki Fernández won the Best Head Coach Award, while international game official Tay Quiñones won the Best Umpire Award.
A total of 11 teams participated in the event.
