About the petition to remake season 8, Kit told the New York Times, “That genuinely angered me. Like, how dare you? Sorry, that’s just how I feel. I think it was a level of idiocy that can only come about through social media.”
Another wrote, “As bad as GoT ended, I salute him for calling out the idiocy which is fandom entitlement,” while one commented, ” He has a point, but so do the people desiring/demanding that S8 be remade. And let’s be clear the writing for S8 wasn’t competent.”
Reactions to Kit‘s quote on Reddit are mixed with one fan writing, “Right….so speaking as a surgeon, if I fucked up an operation so bad that no patient would ever want to come to me again for an operation, I would likely lose my license. Why are writers exempt from criticism again?” but some agree with him, with one noting, “I agree with him. It doesn’t matter how bad the writing in the show was, that’s a huge insult to the writers. Criticism is fine, but this is nothing more than an insult. ”
