NFL Writer Suggests Patriots Could Pursue Superstar WR In Offseason Trade
Players looking to be traded or signed this offseason might find the New England Patriots among the most desirable teams, and it seems Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown could be on the move.
If the Eagles decide to trade Brown, Gary Davenport from Bleacher Report suggested that the Patriots could be a potential destination.
“The Patriots have shown this season they are legitimate contenders,” Davenport wrote on Sunday. “There’s a window open — one that’s open a lot wider until the team has to pay quarterback Drake Maye all the money ever. And while the Pats have some skill-position talent and Stefon Diggs has turned back the clock at times this season, the team lacks a true “alpha” wide receiver.
“What New England doesn’t lack is cap space — with $46 million and change per Over The Cap, the team has the financial wiggle room to make a deal happen.”
Brown played with the Eagles for the past four seasons. Before his trade to Philadelphia, he spent three seasons under Mike Vrabel with the Tennessee Titans.
The Eagles might choose to retain Brown instead of parting ways with him, but there were times during the season when he seemed frustrated with his role in the offense. A change of scenery could be beneficial for the star receiver.
