Commitment to care creates jobs and strengthens services

Liverpool City Council’s decision to become the registered provider for two local nursing care homes is already delivering impressive results creating new roles and boosting local employment.

The council has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to residents at Millvina House in Anfield and Brushwood Nursing Home in Speke, following the Cabinet decision in September 2025 to continue as the Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered provider for both homes.

After reviewing all options, the Council concluded that continuing as provider offered the most stable and effective solution for residents

Since then, the Council has worked closely with health partners and PC24, who provide nursing care at the homes, to deliver service improvements and prioritise the wellbeing of residents and staff.

This approach has already created over 80 new roles, strengthening the foundations for delivering compassionate, high-quality care and driving further improvements.

These achievements have paved the way for even more opportunities in the future, and the Council has built a strong, skilled talent pool for Adult Social Care.

Cllr Angela Coleman, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: “I’m incredibly proud of how well our takeover of management has gone and even more proud of the dedication shown by staff at both homes to continue to drive improvements for the wellbeing of our residents.

“Recruitment has been hugely positive, with more than 300 applications received, creating a strong talent pool for future opportunities. All posts have now been shortlisted, and interviews have already led to the appointment of seven senior roles.

“Our partnership with PC24 has strengthened services and created an even more stable environment for residents and staff. By continuing to work closely with PC24, the council is committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care and ensuring that Millvina House and Brushwood remain safe, supportive homes for people who live there.”
