Dad Reveals 11-Year-Old Daughter's Devastating Question After Being Shot in the Head as Suspect Remains at Large
The father of an 11-year-old in California who was shot in the head revealed the young girl’s heartbreaking question as she begins to recover.
On Monday (January 5), the Antioch Police Department issued a statement revealing that they responded to “multiple” calls about a shooting, which took place in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
Authorities reported that the victim of the shooting was a young girl, who has not been identified by name. Per the statement, she had been shot in the head as her family drove out of the parking lot.

After being treated by first responders, she was taken to Children’s Hospital Oakland and was described as being in “stable condition.”
She and her family do “not appear to have been the intended targets,” police said.
In a follow-up statement issued on Wednesday (January 7), the suspect was identified as Ryan Hardy, who police said “should be considered armed and dangerous.”
He still remained at large.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the victim’s father and other family members revealed how she was doing.
The outlet reported that she “can hear loved ones speaking to her and can respond by moving parts of her body.” However, she is currently unable to see.
Her father told the publication that she asked him about her vision, saying, “Dad, why can’t I see?”
“It hurts me so much. Those are words I don’t think any dad could handle,” he said, adding that his family “is everything.”
In a GoFundMe started by members of the victim’s family, they reported that she “will require extensive medical care, therapy and long-term emotional healing” moving forward.
The fundraiser stated that the family wanted to move, saying that they did not feel safe and “lives in constant fear of retaliation.”
As a result, they planned to “leave everything behind” and start over.
“This means leaving their home permanently, walking away from their income-earning jobs, and relocating to the Bay Area, where the cost of living is extremely high, all while remaining by their daughter’s bedside,” the GoFundMe read.
At the time of publishing, it had already surpassed its goal of $15,000.
Just Jared contacted the Antioch Police Department for updates on the investigation but did not hear back at the time of publication.
