Man Sparks Debate Over Sleeping in the Nude After Uncomfortable Incident with His Roommate's Girlfriend
A man is wondering if he is in the wrong after his roommate’s girlfriend called him out for sleeping in the nude.
Taking to Reddit’s popular “Am I the A—–” forum, the poster explained that he slept without pajamas because he got “too hot at night.”
However, he stressed that he was “always dressed, or at the very least have shorts or something on” whenever he leaves his bedroom to respect his roommate and anyone else who might be in their place.
While he said that his roommate was already aware of the situation and “had no problem with it,” that changed after an uncomfortable incident involving the roommate’s girlfriend.

The poster said that his roommate’s girlfriend accidentally walked into his room when she was looking for the bathroom the first night she slept over.
“My room and the bathroom are right next to each other and she opened my door by mistake,” he recalled. “I have a vague memory of her opening my door, but i was half asleep and when she closed it i went right back to sleep. the next morning i woke up and my roommate and his girlfriend were upset with me because when she walked in she saw everything and she was mad i would sleep naked when a guest was over in the first place.”
Continuing, he added, “They both said i need to start wearing clothes to sleep since my roommate’s girlfriend is gonna probably be sleeping over more often and it makes her uncomfortable.”
“my argument was that i’m in my own private space away from them and that while i understand it was a mistake, it’s still her fault that she walked in on me sleeping,” he argued.
Despite that, the poster said that his “roommate still won’t let it go” and has even “walked in on [him] sleeping just to see if [he] was naked or not.”
In an update, he revealed that he was unable to add a lock to his door due to his lease. However, he explained that he was looking into ways to block the door to preserve his privacy.
Fellow Redditors were quick to respond to the popular thread, weighing in on if the original poster was in the wrong. Overwhelmingly, they came out in his defense.
“No nudity in your room. Got it,” one Redditor sarcastically wrote, adding, “Also, how exactly did she manage to see that you were completely naked? How hard was she looking into the darkened room that clearly wasn’t the room she wanted? Did she ever apologise for the invasion of your privacy?”
Another agreed, adding that the man needed to make it clear that he felt “violated and unsafe” after the girlfriend walked in on him.
Taking it a step further, yet another Reddit user wrote that the man’s roommate was guilty of “lowkey sexual harassment” for opening the door while he was asleep to check if he was wearing cloths.
Some proposed ways to point out the absurdity of the situation, including one, who wrote that the poster “should insist on a zero nakedness policy for the entire dwelling.”
“You’re in your own bedroom which is your private space. [What's] next? You have to wear a bathing suit while you shower because she might accidentally walk in on you,” another wondered.
One Redditor even pointed out that this should be the last time that the girlfriend mixed up the doors, meaning that it should be “a one time mistake.”
