Tottenham find out how long Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury will keep him out for
Tottenham fans will not like to hear the latest reports coming out of South America about Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury.
As has been the case over the last two years, just as Spurs get one or two key players back fit, they lose others to injuries.
Tottenham fans would have been delighted to see Dominic Solanke back on the pitch against Aston Villa, but Richarlison went off with an injury in the first-half of the clash.
However, the more concerning case is that of Bentancur, who picked up a hamstring injury during Tottenham’s 3-2 loss to Bournemouth.
Tottenham will be without Rodrigo Bentancur for several months
It is now being reported by TyC Sports that the midfielder’s injury is a serious one, which will keep him sidelined for a considerable amount of time.
Bentancur is reported to have torn his hamstring and will have to undergo surgery to fix the issue.
The 28-year-old would need ‘at least three months of recovery’ post surgery, which means that he is guaranteed to be out until mid-April.
More concerningly, TyC add that there could even be doubt about the former Juventus man’s participation in the World Cup this summer.
Does Bentancur’s injury change Spurs’ transfer priority this month?
Even before the Uruguay international’s injury, it had been reported that Tottenham were in the market for a central midfielder.
It has been suggested that the likes of Ruben Neves and Conor Gallagher are on the Lilywhites’ wishlist.
This latest injury development could potentially make a midfielder a top priority for Tottenham this month, and the club may be tempted to spend a decent portion of their budget to bring in a top-class number six.
