Who are the Golden Globes 2026 announcers?

The 83rd Golden Globes mixed things up this year in more ways than one, and not all the new aspects of the show were hits with fans online.

Awards shows typically follow a similar format: A celebrity peer introduces an awards category with a brief and cheeky bit, the nominees are read aloud with cameras panning to the hopeful stars around the room, and then a winner is announced and they make their way to the stage to deliver an acceptance speech. Baddaboom, baddabing.

But this year, the Golden Globes team decided to incorporate commentators. Kevin Frazier, host of “Entertainment Tonight,” and Marc Malkin, a Senior Culture & Events Editor for Variety, chatted about the winners as they made their way to the podium to give their acceptance speeches and promoted the Globes’ sponsor Polymarket (a cryptocurrency prediction market in which users bet on real-time events like awards shows).

The acclaimed entertainment journalists offered tidbits of color and context in a play-by-play style akin to sports commentators. When “The Studio” nabbed the award for best television series comedy, and Seth Rogen made his way to the stage, Frazier was heard over the applause, commenting, “Seth told us in the back that he’s excited to keep all of his industry friends guessing about if one of their personal stories would make it into the show. And I’m sure there are lots of folks who want to be on that.”

Malkin responded, “I mean, this is a show that booked Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, come on. Everyone wants to be on this show now.”

Pretty harmless, right? According to social media, no. From Twitter to Threads to Bluesky, fans were not mincing words.

“These Golden Globes — from the cheesy announcers to the podcast and comedy categories with pandering, painfully mainstream nominees — should be cited as an example to future producers of the Oscars: you can try to appeal to the masses, but it will only make them take you less seriously,” wrote Evan Stewart on Bluesky.

On Threads, user Char.Davie wrote, “Golden Globes commentators pronounce a single name correctly challenge: impossible.”

On Bluesky, Justin Francis wrote, “Why do the announcers for the golden globes seem to be searching reddit threads for casting rumors for each awardee? #goldenglobes.”

And on Threads, Deidre James weighed in, “Is it just me or does it seem like the Golden Globes production is trying too hard to be hip? From the announcers to the music. It’s giving mom from Mean Girls.”
