Where Amy Poehler & Ex-Husband Will Arnett Stand as They Go Head-To-Head at the 2026 Golden Globes
Amy Poehler and Will Arnett are embracing some friendly competition at the 2026 Golden Globes, where they’re both nominated in the Best Podcast category.
The exes and co-parents, who were married from 2003 until 2012, will go head-to-head to win the inaugural award. Poehler’s podcast Good Hang is nominated, while Arnett is nominated alongside his Smartless co-hosts Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes.
Also nominated are Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, The Mel Robbins Podcast and NPR’s Up First.
Fortunately, Poehler and Arnett are on good terms after their divorce, though it took a lot of work.
The couple, who are parents to sons Archie, 17, and Abel, 15, announced their separation in 2012 but kept very quiet about the reasons for their split.
In 2014, Poehler officially filed for divorce and broke her silence on their split in her memoir, Yes Please. “I don’t want to talk about my divorce because it is too sad and too personal,” she wrote, noting that she avoids talking about her personal life because “I also don’t like people knowing my s—.”
“I am proud of how my ex-husband, Will, and I have been taking care of our children; I am beyond grateful he is their father; and I don’t think a [nearly] ten-year marriage constitutes failure,” she wrote. “That being said, getting a divorce really sucks.”
In 2022, after welcoming another child with his then-girlfriend, Alessandra Brawn, Arnett talked about his divorce from Poehler in an interview with The Guardian, calling filming Arrested Development with his ex after their divorce “just brutal, brutal, brutal.”
“I was driving to the set one day and I pulled over to the side of the road and cried for an hour,” he said.
“People talk about you like they know you and they talk about your relationship as if they know what’s going on,” he explained. “So imagine how weird that is. It’s brutal with any relationship, and we have kids.”
However, the two proved just how close they are in April 2025 when she appeared on Smartless. “I’m really, really lucky to have her as a partner in this way. There aren’t many people I speak to more than I speak to her, which is weird — you know what I mean? But it’s great,” Arnett said. “She is somebody that I still run a lot of stuff by.”
He continued, “She’s the person I go to, like, ‘Hey, I’m thinking about doing this.’ Whether it’s life or work, I really seek her counsel because it’s important to me — because I trust her. She’s awesome.”
