Timothy Busfield's Wife Melissa Gilbert Deactivates Instagram Amid His Child Sexual Abuse Allegations; Report Says She Was on Speakerphone During Police Call

There’s an update about Little House on the Prairie‘s Melissa Gilbert after her husband, Timothy Busfield, had extremely serious charges brought against him.

If you did not see the news, the 68-year-old The West Wing actor was charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse.

After news broke about these charges, we now noticed that Melissa has deactivated her Instagram account. A “Profile isn’t available” notice pops up when attempting to view her account.

This Instagram news comes after it was revealed that Melissa was apparently on speakerphone while Busfield engaged in a phone interview with an officer pertaining to these charges. The call apparently took place on November 3, 2025. He seemingly told the officer that Melissa was also on the call.

In the warrant, obtained by People, Busfield allegedly said that he Melissa had a relationship with the alleged victims and their parents “outside of work,” buying them “Christmas gifts and were together on several social functions.”

Another major piece of information that fans have noticed: weeks after that reported November 3 phone call, Melissa herself spoke out about child exploitation in regard to her own experiences on set.

Also according to the warrant, Busfield faced prior sexual assault allegations dating back to 1994.
