Mathys Tel has made a decision on his immediate Tottenham Hotspur future amidst the January transfer window.
Life at Tottenham Hotspur has not exactly been smooth sailing for Mathys Tel, who made his initial loan move permanent last summer.
The French U21 international has had game time hard to come by since his permanent move and was even left out of Spurs’ initial Champions League squad before being recalled in place of Dominic Solanke.
With gametime hard to come by in north London, Tel is now said to be considering his future at Spurs.

This report comes from Mercato, which states that Mathys Tel’s struggle for game time could lead him to consider a move elsewhere in the near future.
The 20-year-old has managed just five starts under Thomas Frank in the Premier League, and it is believed that he is not satisfied with the situation. However, with Brennan Johnson sold and Mohammed Kudus injured, Tel has started the past three fixtures against Sunderland, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa.
Not only that, but the French U21 starlet has performed well in all three, and his chances of consistent game time appear to be at an all-time high in N17.
Tel is said to have set himself a goal of featuring in the 2026 World Cup finals. However, with a lack of consistent game time, the forward is far from achieving this goal and is clearly open to a move this winter to secure more playing time, which is his priority.
The young forward is not short of suitors, with AS Roma showing keen interest in taking Mathys Tel out on loan this winter, while Galatasaray are willing to give the Spurs youngster some much-needed minutes.
Spurs stance on Tel amid injury concerns
The report does claim that Tottenham is not keen on the idea of a departure, even a temporary one, for the Frenchman.
Frank also opened up on the possibility of Tel being sent out on loan, stating that he would love for the young forward to make the left wing spot his own.
The 20-year-old has since seen an improvement in game time in recent weeks as he earned back-to-back starts in the Premier League with games against Sunderland and Bournemouth.
Tel showed his quality in the latter, with a strong display that saw him grab a goal, while his deliveries from set pieces were equally impressive.
Tottenham are currently navigating an injury crisis in the attacking areas, and that should allow Tel to receive more game time.
