Kelly Clarkson Gives Rare Update on 2 Kids After Death of Their Dad Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson‘s kids suffered a great tragedy when they lost their father, Brandon Blackstock, after a battle with cancer.

If you do not recall, Brandon passed away at the age of 48 in August of 2025 following a three-year battle with cancer. His cause of death was released, and confirmed the type of cancer he had been battling.

Kelly and her ex husband Brandon Blackstock shared two children: Remy, 9, and River Rose, 11.

Now, she provided a brief update.

During a Q&A for her show’s YouTube channel, Kelly was asked what she does every single day that brings her joy.

“Snuggle. My kids, they’re 9 and 11. Kind of that special little fun stage where they can wipe their own behinds, but they’re still small enough to, like, love cuddling and love snuggles,” she shared.

“There’s been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit,” she added. “It’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It’s a lot,” she quipped. “It’s been really special, though, because… the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that’s probably my favorite.”

Kelly split from her ex-husband and former manager in 2020. Kelly and Brandon, who were married for seven years, finalized their divorce in 2022 after a tough custody battle.
