Sweden donates $6.4 million to Afghanistan fund
Sweden has contributed $6.4 million to the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund, boosting essential services and resilience programs for displaced and vulnerable communities.
Sweden has donated 60 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to 6.4 million U.S. dollars, to the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF).
The ART fund expressed its gratitude on Sunday, January 11, through a post on X, thanking Sweden for the contribution.
The ARTF said the donation will help expand essential services that strengthen economic resilience and address climate-related challenges for communities affected by displacement.
Last year, United Nations agencies repeatedly warned about funding shortages that limited their ability to deliver aid and implement projects that meet the urgent needs of the people of Afghanitsan.
Afghanistan continues to face multiple humanitarian and development challenges, including widespread displacement, poverty, and climate-related disasters, which have increased the need for coordinated international support.
The funding from Sweden is expected to bolster ongoing programs and support vulnerable communities, helping them recover and build long-term resilience in challenging circumstances.
