Demi Moore Shares Touching Bruce Willis Memory as His Condition Worsens
Since his diagnosis was revealed in 2023, legendary actor Bruce Willis has been battling frontotemporal dementia (FTD). As his condition worsens, his family has rallied around him to support and care for him, and that includes his ex-wife, actress Demi Moore.
During a recent interview, Moore opened up about a touching memory she shared with the Die Hard actor during their marriage, as he continues to battle the debilitating condition.
Willis' Condition is Worsening
Over the past several weeks, Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, has done several interviews, opening up about her husband's condition. During those interviews, she has revealed that his health is declining and his brain is “failing him.”
His wife also explained that he is not actually aware of his condition, even as his health continues to decline.
“The person doesn’t realize that they are experiencing a decline in their health. So it’s not denial; this is just a part of the disease,” Emma Heming Willis explained recently. “So, it’s a blessing and a curse. But I am grateful that Bruce never tapped into the idea that he had FTD.”
Additionally, Willis' ability to speak has begun to deteriorate, forcing him to communicate with loved ones and caretakers in other ways.
“The language is going, and, you know, we’ve learned to adapt,” she said. “And we have a way of communicating with him, which is just a … different way.”
Despite all of this, Emma Heming Willis clarified that he is still able to recognize his family members and loved ones, marking a distinction between his disorder and Alzheimer’s Disease.
Demi Moore Shares a Special Memory
During a recent screening celebration for the new film Song Sung Blue, a musical drama filled with Neil Diamond songs, Moore revealed that she had a special connection to the film because of some memories she had with Willis.
Moore explained that the movie and its soundtrack reminded her of Willis loudly playing Neil Diamond music once a week during their marriage from 1987 to 2000.
"A little personal thing," Moore said, via USA Today. "But Bruce always had, every week, 'Neil Diamond Day.'"
"So I just want to bring in and say, watching the movie reminded me of when (Willis) would just blast Neil Diamond. I'd say, 'What's going on?' And he would say, 'It's Neil Diamond day!'" Moore added.
It's certainly a touching memory from Moore, who has been by Willis' side throughout his battle.
