Bears will host Eagles or Rams in divisional round of playoffs after beating Packers on Saturday
The Bears will play at home in the next round of the playoffs, but their opponent won't be determined until Sunday evening. They advanced to the divisional round by beating the Packers on Saturday and will host the Rams or defending champion Eagles.
Because the NFL re-seeds after each round, it's not clear cut. First off, going into Sunday, here are the remaining seeds:
1. Seahawks
2. Bears
3. Eagles*
5. Rams
6. 49ers*
* The Eagles and 49ers play each other Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
As the No. 1 seed, the Seahawks have a first-round bye and will host the lowest-seeded remaining team. That dictates everything.
If the Eagles beat the 49ers, the Eagles automatically slot to the Bears, which means the Rams would visit the Seahawks. If the 49ers win Sunday, they automatically slot to the Seahawks, would would send the Rams to the Bears.
The Bears didn't face the Rams this season, but beat the Eagles soundly in Philadelphia in November. The Bears never trailed in that game and won 24-15, prompting coach Ben Johnson to rip his shirt off and secure a free hot dog day at the Wiener's Circle.
The Rams were arguably the best team in the NFL for most of this season, but slipped at the end with losses to the Seahawks and Falcons and ended up losing the NFC West race to the Seahawks. The Rams led the NFL at 30.5 points per game during the regular season and allowed the 10th-fewest points at 20.4.
The NFL's usual time slots for the divisional round are Saturday at 3:30 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 and 5:30 p.m.
