Hogs Split Matchups in Athens
ATHENS, Ga. — The Arkansas swim and dive team split its head-to-head matchups against the Bulldogs and Seminoles, beating Florida State by a score of 195-101, but fell to SEC foe Georgia, 169-124.
New year, same results for junior Harriet Rogers. Rogers placed first in both the 50 and 100 freestyle with times of 22.23 and 48.77, respectively. Sophomore Holly Robinson swam to a first-place finish in the 200 IM, racing to a 2:03.06 time. To close out competition for the day, the Razorbacks, led by Tammy Greenwood, Harriet Rogers, Delaney Harrison, and Viola Petrini, won the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:17.34 finish.
“I was very happy with our team’s effort today,” head coach Neil Harper said. “To be on the road at Georgia, a nationally ranked team, it was a great test especially for our younger Razorbacks. Both FSU and Georgia will have All-Americans at NCAA’s this March, so for us to win several events and relays and beat FSU was a great sign for the championship season. I thought Syd, Tammy, Holly, Lotti, and Majo all had standout performances to lead out team.”
On the springboards, the Hogs swept both the 1- and 3-meter events. Sophomore Lotti Hubert grabbed the gold in the 1-meter with a total score of 314.75. On 3-meter, Majo Sanchez earned another first-place finish, ending with a total score of 375.00.
“I am very proud of the ladies today,” head diving coach Abel Sanchez said. “They all did a fantastic job. Majo won the 3-meter and Lotti won the 1-meter, and the rest were right behind.”
The Razorbacks move to 8-2 on the season. They will return to the pools on Friday, Jan. 23 as they travel to Lawrence, Kan. to face the Jayhawks.
