Report: Tottenham Hotspur's plans for Micky van de Ven may now be scuppered amid latest tensions
Micky van de Ven is obviously one of the best, most valuable players at Tottenham Hotspur, but they might not be able to keep him there much longer.
Ever since arriving in N17, Micky van de Ven has proven his worth and endeared himself to the fans at Tottenham.
However, things have not been quite as positive of late. The disconnect between players and fans hit another low point in midweek, when van de Ven clashed with supporters after the Bournemouth game.
Now, any plans to keep the Dutchman at the club beyond his current contract may well have been scuppered.

Micky van de Ven might not want a new Tottenham contract
In a report from The Telegraph on the situation at Spurs, it’s said that the club had been hoping to get van de Ven locked into a new deal. His current contract runs to 2029, but Tottenham want to protect one of their top assets with a bigger, better agreement.
However, van de Ven has made no secret of his frustrations at Spurs, and it is thought he would be less inclined to commit his future to the club now.
Whether he would actively want to leave or not is another matter, but the report suggests a new contract would be more difficult to negotiate now than it would have been previously.
At the end of last year, van de Ven aired his grievances on Tottenham and insisted everyone needs to do better. He did admit it was down to the players to change, but whether he will stick around for the fight is unclear.
What would Spurs do without Micky van de Ven?
The one positive for Tottenham is that van de Ven would be too expensive for most clubs to come in and steal away. However, there are a handful of clubs that could and probably would make a suitable offer.
Obviously, losing a player like van de Ven would be a massive blow. But, it’s worth remembering Spurs do have Luka Vuskovic ready to go from next season.
The young Croatian is not the finished article yet, but he’s showing incredible promise on loan at Hamburger SV this season. If he develops the way we all expect, he could be even better than van de Ven eventually.
As always, if a player is not willing to commit to Tottenham and a suitable offer comes in, van de Ven will be sold. It would not be something anyone would welcome, but it doesn’t have to be the end of the world. It might just require a little patience in the aftermath, is all.
