Urgent appeal to identify man discovered dead outside homes
Detectives are trying to identify a man who was discovered dead on a residential road in Surrey.
The emergency services were alerted after a member of the public found a man’s body in Guildford’s Hazel Avenue this morning.
The unknown man was discovered lifeless outside a residential address shortly after 7.15am, the police confirmed.
He is thought to be aged between 20 and 50, and the investigation is at the early stages to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Butterworth said: ‘I understand there will be a lot of concern about what has happened and we have a dedicated team of officers working hard to identify this man and establish the timeline of events that led to his death.
‘We are urgently appealing for information which could help our investigation. If you witnessed any suspicious activity in the Bellfields area overnight and into the early hours of this morning, please come forward. We’re encouraging local residents to check any doorbell camera or dashcam footage, and share anything that may help with police.’
Hazel Avenue was closed for hours between Lime Grove and Willow Way before it reopened this afternoon.
Locals reacted to the news on social media, with many paying tribute to the man.
A neighbour said: ‘This is horrific! Just a few doors down from where I live. I can’t imagine what could’ve happened. I saw all the police an cordons as I walked past and just hoped it wasn’t anything too serious.’
One person said: ‘My condolences to the man’s family.’
Another one said: ‘Saw this on the way to school today, its horrible.’
