Islam’s Contempt for the West Evidenced Through Antisemitism and Christian Persecution

The deep-seated animosity towards Jews and Christians among Islamists poses a threat to any nation. In the case of the United States, this cannot be permitted to persist at the current level.

The Gateway Pundit spoke to Dr. Alex McFarland, a youth, culture and religion expert, who said, the assaults on Jewish—and Christian—communities around the world are indicative of a wider issue of Islamic intolerance towards differing ideologies, resulting in a crisis of faith that demands attention.

Consider the Muslim Brotherhood, a worldwide Sunni Islamist movement that perceives Islam as an all-encompassing framework for every aspect of life, including politics, law, and religion, and aims to create a global Islamic society. Several state-level efforts are being made to designate the Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.

Their Islamist-adherent practices, particularly those related to Sharia law, for example, are often considered antithetical to the U.S. Constitution. In a broader context, even Sayyid Qutb, a prominent intellectual of the Muslim Brotherhood, acknowledged that Islam is unable to coexist with the rest of the world.

In this context, Dr. McFarland agreed with Qutb, saying this is especially true with regard to morality and religion. “We know groups like the Muslim Brotherhood want non-Muslims converted [to Islam] or else.” As Dr. McFarland states, “Sayyid Qutb of Muslim Brotherhood fame rejected any notion of a society that retained a non-Muslim portion.”

Interestingly, he pointed out, “the Left often speaks of tolerance and then supports Muslim groups that espouse the very height of intolerance.”

To that end, antisemitic violence is on the rise globally. As reported by two Jewish organizations tracking these figures, there was a 340 percent surge in antisemitic incidents worldwide from 2022 to 2024.

Since October 7, 2023, academic think tanks, Jewish communities, and their allies have consistently brought attention to antisemitic violence in the West, especially from Islamist or Islamist-affiliated malicious actors.

Similarly, Christians in Nigeria have experienced widespread and ongoing violence, which includes deadly massacres and kidnappings perpetrated by terrorist groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State. In a second example, Hindu nationalist groups in India have also escalated their attacks on Christians, resulting in a rise in violence, intimidation, and harassment.

For the United States, Dr. McFarland said it is imperative to safeguard the lives of both Jewish and Christian individuals. “The nation’s stability and prosperity depend on it,” he argued.

“The Judeo-Christian moral code says God exists and that God is righteous,” Dr. McFarland shared, adding that “a just society is the society most reflective of God’s righteousness.”

“In that society,” he said, “there are moral guardrails that we need to live within, and this is the foundation on which our Constitution stands.” He contends, “It’s part of the operating system, whereby our Constitution can be consistently applied and lived out.”

Within the Judeo-Christian framework, Dr. McFarland said, “objective morality” must be recognized. “Apart from the specific practices of Judaism or the specific beliefs and practices of Christianity,” he said, “Judaism and Christianity share belief in objective morality.”

For George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, he noted that the philosophical idea was described as “self-evident truth.” He also referenced former President John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address from 1961, in which he stated, “the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.”

Dr. McFarland explained, “Our rights come from God, and the role of government, said JFK, is not to give us rights, but to guard the rights we’ve already been given by God.” He then pointed out that “many on the Left, and many young secularists, have been groomed in government schools and they have contempt for this.”

“But when we apply laws inconsistently and selectively rather than consistently and unbiasedly,” he said, “it becomes a very schizophrenic society—and that’s where we are right now.”

“We’re not living out the moral foundation that enables our Constitution to work, so we have to get back to this, and Islam should never be allowed to encroach on our effort,” concluded Dr. McFarland.
