On Friday (January 9), creator Charlie Brooker announced that the anthology series, which is now one of Netflix‘s longest-running shows, has been renewed for an eighth season.
Keep reading to find out more… “I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it,” Charlie revealed in a new interview posted on Netflix’s Tudum site. “So, that’s exciting. That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away.”
He went on to say that the upcoming season will follow his traditional thought process of: “Well, what haven’t we done yet, and what tone am I looking for?”
“It’s a useful thought experiment when approaching a new story,” Charlie added. “Where does this track come on the album, and what musical direction are we going to go into?”
Black Mirror has now been on TV for nearly 15 years, having started on Channel 4 before switching to Netflix after two seasons in 2016. Over the years stars including Bryce Dallas Howard, Jon Hamm, Miley Cyrus, Rashida Jones, Anthony Mackie, Daniel Kaluuya, Jesse Plemons, Salma Hayek Pinault, Aaron Paul, and Cristin Milioti have all appeared on the show.
If you haven’t seen it yet, Netflix has released their full TV slate for 2026.
