Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Breaks His Silence After Trump Renames Kennedy Center
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is reacting to The Kennedy Center’s name change.
Last month, Donald Trump announced that he was changing the name of the iconic performing arts center to the Kennedy-Trump Center, months after he took over as chair of the board.
If you didn’t know, The Kennedy Center opened in 1971 and was designated by Congress as a living memorial to the assassinated President John F. Kennedy, who was the 71-year-old Secretary of Health and Human Services’ uncle.
In a new interview, RFK Jr. publicly addressed the Kennedy Center’s name change for the first time.
Keep reading to find out more…While speaking with CBS News chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes, RFK Jr. was asked if he understood why many of his family members were “upset” by Trump‘s decision to rename the center.
“Of course. I understand it, but I have bigger fish to fry,” RFK Jr. said, before noting that there are other issues with higher priority that he’s focusing on.
“If we lose any children in this country to obesity, heart disease — 77 percent of our kids can’t qualify for the military,” he said. “Saving one life is more important to me than the name on a building.”
Since Trump‘s takeover, many other artists that have canceled appearances at the Kennedy Center.
