'Horrific lie!' MAGA brawl erupts as Trump team accuses Marjorie Taylor Greene of setup
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene erupted Friday over accusations that she had helped orchestrate an ambush of President Donald Trump last year at a popular restaurant in Washington, D.C., calling the accusations a “horrific” and “dangerous lie.”
In November, Trump was confronted by anti-war protesters at Joe’s Seafood, a confrontation that reportedly left him “rattled” and led him to cancel further "surprise pop-ins” indefinitely. On Friday, Axios reported that Trump’s team believed Greene may have tipped off the protestors to Trump’s visit, and had notified the U.S. Secret Service of their suspicions.
In a social media post Friday, Greene aggressively denied the accusation, arguing that at the time, she was still publicly defending Trump and that the two had yet to have their falling out. Furthermore, she alleged the accusation stemmed from the White House being “mad” at her for her persistence on forcing the release of files on Jeffrey Epstein.
“This was in September when we had a great relationship, 2 months before Trump attacked me and called me a traitor!!!” Greene wrote in a social media post on X.
“And even now, I would NEVER do what they are accusing me of! I would NEVER EVER do anything to endanger anyone!!! I’ll be calling my attorney. This is an ABSOLUTE LIE, A DANGEROUS LIE. I would NEVER do that.”
Greene went on to argue that she had “zero involvement or knowledge” of Trump’s schedule the day of the incident, and attacked Axios for having published “such a horrific lie.”
“The story you should be writing is why didn’t secret service sweep the restaurant???” Greene continued.
“Why didn’t they set up metal detectors and check every person at the door like they do at every single public event he attends??? Why aren’t you asking the White House those questions??? And why did the President’s team allow that to happen only a year after he was shot in Butler, PA???” she asked.
