Rivian Recall Covers Nearly 20,000 Trucks and It's Already Caused a Crash
This is a suspension problem that can turn into a control problem. Rivian says a serviced rear toe link joint can separate while you drive, and it can happen without warning. NHTSA lists the campaign as 26V003.
Rivian says the recall covers certain 2022–2025 R1S SUVs and R1T pickups that had rear suspension service. The service work required technicians to separate and reassemble a rear toe link joint. Rivian used an older service procedure until March 10, 2025. After that date, it switched to an updated procedure, per the Part 573 recall filing for campaign 26V003.

NHTSA also pins down the suspect service window. Rivian service used the older procedure from April 1, 2022 through March 10, 2025. The recall targets vehicles that had the right kind of repair during that span.
The toe link matters because it helps keep the rear wheels pointed where you aim them. If that joint separates, the rear wheel can shift out of alignment fast. That’s the kind of failure that can turn a calm highway lane change into a wrestling match.
What the Rivian Recall Covers
The NHTSA filing lists 19,641 vehicles in the recall. It breaks out to 7,031 R1S SUVs and 12,610 R1T pickups. Rivian estimates about 1% of the recalled vehicles have the defect.
Here’s the risk. If the joint was not put back to spec, normal vehicle motion can push it into forces it was never meant to take. Over time, that can lead to toe link joint separation. Rivian says separation increases the risk of a crash and can happen without prior warning.
Rivian also reports one single-vehicle crash with alleged minor injuries tied to this issue, as of the filing date.
The remedy is a free bolt replacement. Rivian will replace any potentially affected rear toe link bolts and install them using the updated service procedure. Rivian plans to mail owner notices on or before February 24, 2026. NHTSA says the VIN will be searchable on February 24, 2026 as well.

My Verdict
If you drive an R1S or R1T, run the VIN check today. If your truck qualifies, book the bolt replacement and get it done. Rivian says the joint can separate without warning, and that’s a bad day at any speed.
