Shocker: Ex-Deputy Speaker Madalitso Kazombo’s Last Words Before Dying Will Shock You…
The final moments of former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Honourable Madalitso Kazombo, have been revealed, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding his sudden death and dispelling speculation that has followed the tragic incident.
In a detailed first-hand account, Ulemu Chilapondwa, who was with the late Kazombo at the time of his collapse, has narrated how the veteran legislator spent his last hours in good spirits before succumbing to what is believed to have been an asthma attack.
According to Chilapondwa, the events unfolded on the day of Kazombo’s death at Kumbali Lodge in Lilongwe. At around 11:00 am, Honourable George Kayimapanjira invited Chilapondwa and Honourable Kayembe to lunch at Father’s Daughter Restaurant.
Chilapondwa and Kayembe arrived at about 12:30 pm, while Kayimapanjira joined them around 1:30 pm.
While the trio was having lunch, Honourable Kayimapanjira received a phone call from Kazombo on an unrelated personal matter.
During the conversation, Kayimapanjira mentioned he was having lunch with Chilapondwa and Kayembe, prompting Kazombo to ask if he could join them. He was warmly welcomed.
Kazombo arrived at the restaurant around 2:30 pm. He ordered chambo with salads and ate well before engaging the group in an animated discussion.
Chilapondwa says Kazombo led much of the conversation, speaking at length about Malawi’s political history, with particular focus on the Kamuzu Banda era.
At about 3:30 pm, Kazombo received a call from his wife, who expressed concern that he had earlier not been feeling well.
Kazombo reassured her, saying he was fine and in the company of trusted colleagues.
Shortly afterwards, Kayimapanjira excused himself to collect his wife, leaving Chilapondwa, Kayembe and Kazombo together until around 4:30 pm, when they decided to leave.
As they made their way to the car, Kayembe walked ahead while Chilapondwa followed behind with Kazombo. It was then that Kazombo said he needed to use the restroom. After taking a few steps, he told Chilapondwa that he was not feeling well and asked him to hold his hand for support. Moments later, Kazombo suddenly collapsed.
Chilapondwa immediately called for help. Kayembe rushed back, joined by the restaurant receptionist and other patrons. After some difficulty, they managed to lift Kazombo and place him in the vehicle.
While in the car, Kazombo briefly regained consciousness and provided his wife’s phone number. She instructed them to rush him to Area 12 MASM Clinic, where she would meet them.
Chilapondwa says Kazombo’s final words before losing consciousness were a prayer: “Ambuye Yesu, mundikhululukire machimo anga onse” (Lord Jesus, forgive me all my sins).
Kazombo passed away shortly thereafter.
Based on information shared by medical personnel and family members, the former First Deputy Speaker is believed to have died from an asthma attack.
Chilapondwa noted that Kazombo had reportedly visited the same clinic the previous day for treatment related to the condition.
Chilapondwa says he decided to share the account to ensure that the public and fellow leaders rely on factual, first-hand information rather than speculation, given the seniority and national stature of the late Honourable Madaliso Kazombo.
