Thomas Frank reacts to reports of confrontation between Tottenham players and fans

Thomas Frank has now revealed what he knows about the confrontation between his Tottenham players and the fans after Wednesday night’s defeat.

Tottenham Hotspur fans are famously passionate and demand high standards from their club, but with results failing to improve, frustration from the stands now appears to be boiling over.

Many Spurs supporters have regularly booed Thomas Frank this season, remaining unconvinced by the Dane as performances and results continue to fluctuate.

The same was true again in the defeat to Bournemouth, with Frank receiving further boos from the away fans; however, this time the situation escalated as Spurs players became involved in a confrontation with the travelling Lilywhite faithful.

Speaking after the match, Frank was asked about the confrontation involving Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven and Palhinha with supporters, and addressed both what he had seen and the broader mood around the club.

In comments given to football.london, the Spurs head coach admitted he had not witnessed the incident directly, while also acknowledging the frustration felt across the club.

He said: “I have not seen that situation, that is one thing. I think it is fair to say everyone involved in Tottenham, players, staff, fans, everyone, it is a tough one to take today.

“I think hopefully everyone can see how hard we worked to get everything in the right direction. And I think overall the performance was good, especially in the second half, in a game where we deserved to get more. That is extremely painful to be part of, so of course people are frustrated, I am frustrated, so that is natural.”

Spurs supporters justified as frustration grows

Tottenham supporters have every right to react as they did, given they are the ones who spend their money travelling up and down the country to follow the team.

The least this group of players can give in return is a visible fighting spirit and results on the pitch.

So far this season, it has been anything but that, with inconsistency defining Spurs’ campaign, as the Lilywhites sit 14th and have lost more games than they have won after 21 matches, making the current frustration entirely understandable.
