David Harbour Drops Out of Behemoth! Movie
David Harbour had his hands full with fighting Vecna and raising a teenager. The actor dropped out of Tony Gilroy’s (Andor, Michael Clayton) upcoming film, Behemoth!, Searchlight Pictures confirmed to Variety on January 7. Reportedly, he cited that he was overwhelmed with the promotional aspects for the final season of Stranger Things and needed space and time to rest. He was set to star alongside the previously confirmed Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde. It has been reported that Harbour’s role has already been recast, though the actor is not yet known. Hopefully, it’s someone equally bearish.
Harbour was largely absent from press for the three-part finale of Stranger Things, including group interviews. His silence was likely related to his ex, Lily Allen, debuting West End Girl just days before Part One’s release. The album was a semi-autobiographical tell-all in which Allen detailed her former partner’s alleged cheating and affairs — Harbour has not yet addressed the contents of the album. Simultaneously, he faced accusations of bullying Millie Bobby Brown on the set of Stranger Things, which Brown later denied.
Harbour has been open in the past about struggling with alcoholism and his diagnosis with bipolar disorder. “Here’s the interesting thing — something I’ve never truly spoken about publicly,” he said on Marc Maron’s WTF! podcast in 2018. “I was actually into this Catholicism thing … and I was sober for like a year and a half. I was 25, and I actually did have a manic episode. I was diagnosed as bipolar.” He was placed in a facility at that time. Harbour is still set to appear in some 2026 productions, including Avengers: Doomsday, as his character Red Guardian, and Violent Night 2. It’s a shame he won’t get Wilde to coach him through this bad PR cycle.
