Man Utd player ratings vs Burnley: Sesko gets 8/10 but two 4/10s look lost in 4-2-3-1
Manchester United drew 2-2 with Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
Darren Fletcher led the side from the touchline after the sacking of Ruben Amorim.
He set up his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Bruno Fernandes making his return to the starting XI.
The Clarets were lucky to go ahead after a heavily deflected own goal by Ayden Heaven.
The Old Trafford outfit created several chances, but Burnley kept the score at 1-0, courtesy of their two off-the-line clearances.
Fernandes linked up with Benjamin Sesko, who scored his first goal in nine games to put United level.
Sesko added another sublime goal to his catalogue but Jaidon Anthony tormented Lisandro Martinez to earn a point for the hosts.
Player Ratings
Senne Lammens – 5/10
Another game without a clean sheet.
Diogo Dalot – 4/10
Did not make any impact. Noussair Mazraoui could easily replace him after AFCON.
Ayden Heaven – 6/10
Unlucky to concede the goal, but he was highly progressive with his passing and forward runs. He should have put United 2–1 ahead, but failed to connect cleanly with a free header.
Lisandro Martinez – 5/10
Unlucky to be denied his first goal of the campaign. Almost registered an assist for Fernandes’ strike, but was badly exposed by Jaidon Anthony.
Luke Shaw – 5/10
A poor performance by his standards as he chose to play it safe when United him to show his vision.
Casemiro – 5/10
Lost his runner for the opening goal but created a fantastic chance for Sesko. His lay-off to Ugarte in the first half was superb, though the resulting shot drifted wide.
He looked tired in the second half and needs some rest.
Manuel Ugarte – 6/10
Ugarte showed why he is rated as a serious ball winner.
Patrick Dorgu – 7/10
Saw a clever chipped effort cleared off the line in the first half. While United played narrowly on the right, the Dane provided width on the left, consistently stretching the pitch. He also delivered a superb cross for Sesko, putting the goal on a plate.
Bruno Fernandes – 8/10
The Portuguese magnifico returned and instantly injected creativity into the side. He brilliantly spotted Sesko’s run before delivering a precise low cross.
Matheus Cunha – 4/10
Looked uncomfortable on the right wing and struggled to find his rhythm. Fletcher moved him into the number 10 role after the break, but the Brazilian still failed to influence proceedings.
Benjamin Sesko – 8/10
He should have scored at least once in the first half, but made amends after the break with two fantastic goals. He smashed the first past Dubravka before using his long legs and strength to fire United ahead.
Substitutes
Mason Mount – 5/10
Looked rusty after missing last two games.
Leny Yoro – 6/10
Defensively sound but his introduction for Heaven took away the incisive passes from deep.
Joshua Zirkzee – 6/10
Failed to turn around this evening.
Kobbie Mainoo – 5/10
Few tidy passes but lost his head with a bizzare shot from distance late in the game.
Shea Lacey – 7/10
Hit the post with his trademark shot from right.
