Specifically, the president pantomimed an athlete lifting weights while discussing trans athletes. He stopped the skit, saying that Melania “hates when I do this.”
“You know, she’s a very classy person, right. She said, ‘It’s so unpresidential.’ I said, ‘But I did become president,’ ” he replied.
That’s not the president’s only behavior that she’s not fond of, either.
“She hates when I dance. I said, ‘Everybody wants me to dance,’ ” he said, adding her response: “Darling, it’s not presidential.”
Continuing, he said, “She actually said, ‘Could you imagine FDR dancing?’
The president seemingly agreed that the late president would not display similar behavior onstage, saying, “He was quite elegant, but he wouldn’t be doing this. Nor would too many others.”
“But she says, ‘Darling, please. The weight lifting is terrible.’ I have to say this, the dancing they really like. She said, ‘They don’t like it. They are just being nice to you.’ I said, ‘The place goes crazy. They are screaming [at him to] dance.’ ”
