YouTube TV Quietly Added 2 New Channels
YouTube TV is regularly updating its channel lineup. Last month, the service announced an agreement with Newsmax TV and added several local affiliates from The CW Network.
Now, a new report says YouTube TV is expanding its rebooted NBC Sports Network coverage, which will now include two new offshoot channels.
YouTube TV launching NBCSN 2, NBCSN 3
Luke Bouma of Cord Cutters News reported Wednesday about the addition of the two NBC Sports Network overflow channels. The news comes nearly two months after NBC Universal brought NBC Sports Network back to the fold; the channel was originally shuttered in late 2021.
NBC Sports Network was relaunched because NBC is "aiming to enhance coverage of major sporting events, including the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Italy," Bouma says.
"The additional channels are expected to handle surplus programming during high-demand periods, ensuring viewers can access live events without interruptions from the primary NBCSN feed," he added.
NBCSN 2 and NBCSN 3 are already appearing on users' custom television guides, and moving forward, will handle some of the NBC's overflow coverage of college basketball, Big Ten football, the upcoming Olympics and other sports.
NBC Sports Network also part of another new YouTube TV endeavor
In December, YouTube TV announced the creation of "YouTube TV Plans" coming in 2026, which will allow customers to choose from 10 genre-specific packages.
As part of "The Sports Plan," which is one of the offerings, subscribers will have access to NBC Sports Network.
“One package that we know our customers will be excited for is the YouTube TV Sports Plan. The Sports Plan will offer fans access to all the major broadcasters as well as sports networks like FS1, NBC Sports Network, all of the ESPN networks, as well as ESPN Unlimited. Subscribers can include add-ons like NFL Sunday Ticket and RedZone, and keep all fan-favorite features, including unlimited DVR, multiview, key plays, and fantasy view,” the company said in a blog post.
