Re: 4th Test - Melbourne
Mmmm. Without checking it, I’m pretty sure that must be Ronay, the sports writer who’s convinced he’s the re-incarnation of Hunter S Thompson. I see he has the same take on McCullum as Raspers.
Haven’t read that but did the day before when he was burying English cricket. I don’t like his journalism either, if he wants to write fiction he should give up the day job. Will take your recommendation and listen to Atherton and Hussein though.
I’m not sure where we are with Bazball. Either yesterday was its last hurrah, or it can only survive on the flat tracks we’re supposedly preparing in England, where our happy band can go out happily swishing away as flat track bullies that need the (supposed) aprons were now preparing to survive on. If Australia is by contrast now the home of ‘proper’ cricket I do wonder how they’re now preparing some pitches that make the Headingley seamers of yesterday look like the Trent Bridge mortuary-for-bowlers tracks of yesteryear.
Hahaha ……I thought…I’m not mentioning Ronay, it will only set Newblue off.
For what it’s worth I put Ronay in the same camp as Marina Hyde and John Crace, don't despise him quite as much. And a funny line is a funny line.
As for Bazball I’m all in. I don’t get as emotionally incontinent as some so just enjoy the spectacle .
When this lot depart I’ll be all in for whatever comes next too.
