Pakistan Army Says Four Militants Killed in Balochistan Operation
Pakistan’s military said it killed four militants during a security operation in Balochistan, accusing them of links to Indian-backed proxy groups.
Pakistan’s military said it killed four militants during a security operation in the restive southwestern province of Balochistan, as Islamabad renewed accusations of foreign-backed militancy.
In a statement issued on Saturday, December 27, the army said the militants were killed in the Panjgur district and described them as members of what it called “Indian proxy groups.”
The military said the suspects were involved in terrorist activities in the area, though it did not provide further operational details.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province, has long faced an insurgency driven by separatist groups who accuse the central government of exploiting local resources without fair benefit to residents.
Pakistan has repeatedly alleged that armed groups such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) receive external support, claims that India has consistently denied.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces involved in the Panjgur operation and reiterated the government’s support for continued action against militant networks and their alleged backers.
He said the state would not allow armed groups to undermine security and stability, particularly in strategically sensitive regions.
The operation comes amid heightened security efforts across Pakistan, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where attacks on security forces and infrastructure have increased.
