Rob Reiner Had a 'Significant' History of Police Calls to His Brentwood Home, Reports Say
Rob Reiner and Michele Singer’s deaths were shocking to fans, but it appears the Los Angeles Police Department was familiar with the couple’s Brentwood home.
Police records, obtained by the Daily Mail show that cops were called to the family’s home on at least six occasions between 2013 and 2025. According to the outlet, the reports note that the “calls for service” involved mental health checks and possible domestic violence.
“There’s been quite a few calls for service at the Reiner house,” an LAPD insider told the Daily Mail. “The West LA division of LAPD was summoned to that home on many occasions.” One particular incident on May 5, 2017, was for a “battery of family violence investigation,” although no further information was given about the event.
Still, “‘Brentwood is a fairly quiet neighborhood. You don’t generally get a lot of calls for service at a home,” the source said while noting that “officers had a recollection that they responded to the home on numerous occasions.” The number of police calls to the Reiner home was considered “significant” over the years.
Nick Reiner, who is the only suspect in the death of his parents, spoke up about his troubles during the promotional press tour of his 2015 film, Being Charlie. “I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,” he explained to People in 2016. “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.”
On the Dopey podcast in 2018, he discussed how his addiction often fueled his temper, and he “wrecked” his family’s guest house in the process.
“I went 10 rounds in my guest house,” he said. “I got totally spun out on uppers—I think it was coke and something else—and I was up for days on end. I started punching out some things in my guest house.”
Despite Nick’s ongoing issues, pal Michael Douglas confirmed that Rob and Michele never gave up on their son.
“I also had a son who had had drug issues,” Michael said of his eldest son, Cameron, 47, on the December 21 CBS News: Rob Reiner Scenes From a Life special. “I’m happy to say he’s overcome them and living a prosperous life. We did talk a lot about that and what you can do as a parent, what you can’t do. Knowing with all of that going on behind the scenes, this was a man who always gave it his best.”
Nick is expected to be arraigned on January 7, 2026.
