Savannah Guthrie Jokes About 'Air Spanking' a Male Co-Worker at Office Holiday Party

Savannah Guthrie is looking back on a slightly naughty moment from a past workplace holiday party.

During a recent episode of Jenna & Friends with Jenna Bush Hager, the 53-year-old TV journalist made a surprising confession while the co-hosts tackled a “Girl Code” advice segment. The pair were responding to a viewer concerned about a co-worker who tends to drink too much and act inappropriately at office holiday events.

“My office holiday party is in a few days … My work bestie Jackie is usually ‘over-served’ and becomes inappropriately flirty at these events. Last year she was hanging all over our boss and she doesn’t remember it at all. Should I say something ahead of time or roll the dice?” is what the letter said.

“I just have to say, as someone who has spanked a network correspondent at a holiday party…,” Savannah admitted. She was quick to clarify that it wasn’t quite what it sounded like, explaining it was “an air spanking, so I don’t think I actually — it wasn’t hand [contact].”

When Jenna asked whether the incident involved a man or a woman, Savannah replied, “Obviously it was a guy!” She wouldn’t say who was on the receiving end of the spanking.

Jenna then joked, “You’ve spanked me before,” which Savannah acknowledged, adding, “But we’re at that point, our friendship.”

As for advice, she suggested leaving the situation alone, telling the fan, “It won’t be well received,” and adding, “She doesn’t remember it. I don’t think any good can come of it.”
