Steam kills 32-bit support for Windows
Valve has rolled out a new version of Steam for Windows over the weekend.
The big news this time around is that 32-bit support has been dropped, marking the end of an era. Most users won’t be affected by the change as 64-bit CPUs have been around since early this century, but if you have an older computer that won’t allow you to upgrade to Windows 11, you may be. To see if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit, head to Start > System > About and then read the description under “System type.”
Support for the older version of Steam will end at the end of the year, Neowin reports.
Other news includes expanded support for Nintendo Switch 2 controllers and Gamecube adapters, as well as a large number of bug fixes.
A complete list of all new features can be found on Steam’s support pages.
