Personal injury attorney Russell Nicolet traveled from the Midwest to California to train with the nation’s top trial lawyers, applying elite strategies to serve rural communities with the same force and finesse as major metropolitan firms. This approach is indicative of his commitment to growth and professional development beyond state lines, with his office at Nicolet Law. He strives to take the best practices from top coastal trial firms and applies them to injury law in rural America.
Russell got his start in the field of law by applying to two renowned schools, Milwaukee’s Marquette University and St. Paul’s William Mitchell College of Law. He was accepted into both institutions, but decided to attend St. Paul’s William Mitchell College of Law. Law school posed numerous challenges, and many have persisted since then, yet Russell’s strategy to overcome obstacles has consistently been the same: a continuous effort to become more knowledgeable and improve. This includes refining his skills with early mentors in the legal field or dedicating extensive time as a young attorney conducting research at the Washington County Law Library.
The Motivation to Make a Difference
Russell was motivated to make a real difference in his community and chose to pursue a career in law. As the first person in his family to attend law school and become a lawyer, he was unsure of what to expect and didn’t have a clear path forward. However, through persistence, hard work, and developing a strong work ethic, he succeeded in law school and now ranks as one of the most highly marketed and successful lawyers in the country. Russell states that a key factor that sets him apart from his peers and initially drew him to the legal field is his unique ability to work with people facing difficult situations and genuinely help them.
To accomplish this, he sought out the guidance, mentorship, and insight of any number of legal professionals. Many attorneys in the legal field are incredibly adept and talented at their jobs. As a young attorney, Russell tried to soak up as much information and influence as he could from the attorneys he interacted with. He sought to learn from excellent attorneys and had the pleasure of meeting many of them, even when they were standing in opposition to him in court. This mentality has stayed with him to this day, as he continues to travel in search of even greater legal knowledge to benefit his clients and local community.
Notable Success in the Industry
Throughout his career, Russell has received numerous awards, such as Top 40 under 40 Trial Lawyers, the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association, and further recognition as a SuperLawyer by SuperLawyers Magazine.
While such acclaim is beneficial to directing more clients toward his law firm, Russell makes it clear that his “most notable highlights have been results for the great people whom I have had the honor to represent. I have settled and taken cases to verdict, which include some of the largest amounts awarded in those counties.”
Building Better Ways
Moving forward, Russell Nicolet intends to keep advocating for injured individuals throughout the Midwest and to hold insurance companies and large corporations responsible for their actions. He hopes Nicolet Law will expand, helping more clients while ensuring that insurers and big companies are accountable to hardworking individuals who suffer injuries beyond their control.
