Injured Man United ace now set to return in February after 'small knee procedure'
Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek is facing a frustrating spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury at a crucial point in his breakout season.
The towering goalkeeper is currently spending the campaign on loan at Bristol City, where he has quickly established himself as a fan favourite.
Vitek has been nothing short of a revelation for the Championship side, making his recent absence against Middlesbrough all the more noticeable.
Bristol City have now provided clarity on his condition via their official X account, easing some of the growing concern.
They confirmed: “Bristol City can confirm Radek Vítek has had a small procedure on his knee.
“We expect the Manchester United loanee to be available in February.”
The goalkeeper will continue his rehabilitation with Bristol City rather than returning to Old Trafford.
Vitek will hope for a swift comeback
Standing at an imposing 6ft 6in, Vitek cuts an authoritative presence between the posts and commands his box with confidence beyond his years.
His shot-stopping has been spectacular at times this season, playing a key role in keeping Bristol City within touching distance of the promotion play-off places.
He has registered seven clean sheets in 22 league appearances, the second-best tally in the Championship so far this season.
His injury has come at the worst possible time, as recent reports suggested that United are planning to integrate him into their first team next campaign.
Vitek will now be eager to return swiftly and rediscover the rich vein of form that has elevated his reputation.
The Robins’ update has calmed fears that the knee issue could have ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
With Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana both expected to leave United permanently next summer, a pathway could open for Vitek at senior level.
He could compete with Senne Lammens for the number one spot.
While Lammens has brought composure to the side, his return of just one clean sheet in 11 games suggests the door remains firmly open.
