Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Reveals Shocking Choice For ‘Favorite Season’
This season has been a rollercoaster for the Boston Celtics. After losing a ton of talent over the offseason and Jayson Tatum to injury, they got off to a rough start, losing their first three games and five of their first eight.
Over the last six weeks, however, the Celtics have found their identity. Jaylen Brown has emerged as an MVP candidate in Tatum’s absence, averaging nearly 30 points per game. Meanwhile, the role players around him have settled into their roles, providing impactful minutes and energy off the bench.
From Neemias Queta and Josh Minott to Hugo Gonzalez and Jordan Walsh, Boston is getting significant contributions from unexpected places. Joe Mazzulla seems to have found the right lineup combinations, getting everyone to hustle, defend and play hard on a nightly basis.
The Celtics have been greater than the sum of their parts, and they’ve wildly surpassed expectations. After overcoming a 20-point deficit against the Indiana Pacers on Monday, they’re now 18-11 and third in the Eastern Conference.
After the game, Brown called this his “favorite season” of his 10 NBA campaigns so far, putting it ahead of Boston’s 2023-24 championship season.
“I think this has been my favorite season so far,” Brown said during his postgame interview. “Being able to get an opportunity to lead a group of guys who, some of us, we have some championship experience, but we have five or six new guys who haven’t really played NBA basketball, and now we look like one of the better teams in the league. That’s a credit to our coaching staff and our leadership.”
Brown’s having his best individual season to date, averaging career highs in points, assists and PER. However, it’s his new teammates’ surprising growth and performance that have made this season so fun, helping the Celtics overachieve.
After winning 13 of its last 17 games, Boston will look to keep rolling in Friday’s rematch with the Pacers.
