Google plans to enter the smart glasses market from two directions at once. This is a simpler version without screens, as well as a super-powerful model with AR displays.
Main theses:
- The first version of the glasses is being created in collaboration with Samsung, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster.
- Google is working with Xreal to develop the second pair of glasses, codenamed Project Aura.
What is known about Google's plans?
According to the company's management, the first version will be presented next year.
Journalists who have already had the opportunity to get acquainted with the new product say that they are not too different from ordinary glasses, especially in terms of weight and ease of wearing.
What is important to understand is that these smart glasses are created by the Google team in collaboration with Samsung, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster.
There are no screens here, but there are microphones, speakers and cameras. All the work revolves around the Gemini voice assistant, which suggests directions, recognizes objects, translates language in real time and can overlay subtitles.

As the developers note, data processing is done on the phone, which is why the glasses are so light.
In addition, it is emphasized that there is a camera, and ready-made photos appear on the phone or watch.
To develop the second pair of glasses, codenamed Project Aura, Google is working with Xreal to make full-fledged glasses with displays inside the lenses. At a closed demonstration, the company showed off two versions: with a single screen in the right lens and binocular, where the displays are right in front of both eyes.
