Vince Zampella Dead: 'Call of Duty' Video Game Developer Dies at 55 in Car Crash
Vince Zampella has tragically passed away.
The Respawn Entertainment head and video game developer behind the massively popular video game franchise Call of Duty was involved in a fatal single-car accident on Sunday (December 21) near Los Angeles.
He was involved in a 2026 Ferrari 296 GTS crash on Angeles Crest Highway in the San Gabriel Mountains around 12:45 p.m. in Southern California, per NBC LA.

“The southbound car veered off the road, hit a concrete barrier and a passenger was ejected,” per highway patrol.
The driver was trapped in the car fire and died on the scene, while the passenger died at the hospital, per NBC4.
There are no details yet about the cause of the crash, but a witness provided video.
Vince was formerly the CEO of Infinity Ward, the studio that put out the Call of Duty franchise. Respawn Entertainment is best known for games like Titanfall, Apex Legends and STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order.
