Making a Pot Roast for Christmas? Ina Garten's Recipe Is the Only One You Need
Christmas is busy enough as it is without having to worry about preparing a huge meal. We had turkey with all the sides last month, so we deserve a break from cooking! Make a filling, comforting, and delicious dinner without the hassle by cooking a pot roast instead! The tender meat combined with veggies and a savory sauce is the perfect all-in-one dish that will fuel you for a jam-packed day of fun. Ina Garten just made it easy by sharing the perfect pot roast recipe that has everything you need for a delicious dinner.
“Every grandmother has a favorite pot roast recipe,” Garten says in a video shared on Food Network’s YouTube Channel. “And they all have one thing in common: a very big pot,” she continues, bringing out a big Dutch oven to prepare the roast in. She’s going to make this “with the volume turned up,” which means lots of red wine and vegetables that’ll make it “delicious.”
Garten’s Company Pot Roast is “simple enough for every day,” but “special enough for company.” AKA, the perfect option this holiday season. Start by seasoning a 5B piece of “really good quality chuck roast,” then coating it in flour. Next, she sears the meat in the Dutch oven “to seal in the juices” and “make the sauce taste fantastic.”
While that’s cooking, she chops carrots, celery, and other classic pot roast veggies. Temporarily remove the roast, once it finishes searing, to create the sauce. You’ll start with the chopped vegetables, then adding some seasonings, red wine, cognac, and additional ingredients. Put the beef back in and cook it for several hours together.
For the final touch, she purees half the sauce then pours it back into the pan for a half chunky, half pureed finished taste. After a few more ingredients to thicken up the sauce and carving the meat, it’s ready to serve! The pot roast looks melt-in-your-mouth good, and perfect for your next get-together!
“I think everybody’s secret favorite meal is pot roast,” she adds. “Whenever I serve it, people go, ‘Oh, I love pot roast!’”
And based on the comments, that’s so true. People praised the recipe, with one person writing, “I need to make this right now! Lol I can smell it through my phone????”
Someone else said, “Definitely am gonna make pot roast for Chrismas. Delish !!!! Thank u so much Ina.”
