Four arrested in wake of gunfire near Richmond school
RICHMOND — Four people have been arrested, and police said they were seeking felony battery charges against three of them for their roles in an altercation that led to gunfire near a school last week.
In a statement, Richmond police said they arrested the four last Wednesday after a department SWAT team served a search warrant at an undisclosed location in North Richmond. The juvenile was a male. He was arrested with two men and a woman, Lt. Donald Patchin said via email.
Two of the adults and the juvenile were arrested on suspicion of felony battery for their actions in an initial fight between kids and adults that led to the gunfire, Patchin said. Police have not identified the person who fired the shot.
Police arrested another adult involved in incident on suspicion of conspiracy and theft, Patchin said.
The gunfire happened on Dec. 15 about 12:05 p.m. during a fight in the 800 block of Chanslor Avenue near Sylvester Greenwood Academy. Police said at least one shot was fired.
The gunfire didn’t injury anybody, but it damaged a building at the school.
