'Mario Kart World' Nintendo Switch 2 Bundle Officially Ceases Production
The Nintendo Switch 2, despite several early controversies like the use of Game-Key Cards and a higher-than-expected price tag, has been a huge success for Nintendo and is the most popular product in America, according to recent data. Now, one of the console's launch bundles is being discontinued.
In a leaked GameStop memo (captured by Nintendeal on X), which has now been confirmed to be accurate by both the official GameStop and Nintendo of America X accounts, the Nintendo Switch 2 bundle that comes with a digital copy of Mario Kart World has officially ceased production.
"The Mario Kart World Switch 2 Bundle will no longer be produced. Get it from GameStop and save while supplies last," reads the X post from GameStop.
Nintendo of America's post reads: "Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle is available in limited quantities at participating retailers, while supplies last."
The Mario Kart World bundle has been the most popular Nintendo Switch 2 package deal, and Mario Kart World has sold around 9.57 million units, according to Nintendo's Q3 financial report.
The Nintendo Switch 2 retails for $449.99, while the bundle with Mario Kart World retails for $499.99. In a controversial decision, which even led to a digital "drop the price" protest, Mario Kart World became the first modern video game priced at $79.99, instead of the standard $69.99. Buying the bundle with Mario Kart World saves around $30 if players were going to buy the game anyway.
Nintendo released a second Switch 2 bundle in October, with Pokémon Legends: Z-A coming with the console for $499.99. It's unknown yet if the Pokémon bundle has also ceased production.
Even though the creation of the Mario Kart World bundle has ended, that does not mean it isn't available anymore. Many retailers still have several bundles available and will continue to sell them until they run out.
