Netflix Original Docuseries Returning for Season 2 After Global Top Ten Success
For Netflix users around the world, one of the main factors that has made the streaming service stand out is that it is always adding more content to its media library. It can be especially exciting for the company's customers when more of the streaming service's original content is released for the first time.
Even as several Netflix Original movies and shows are set to leave Netflix in 2026, more are going to be added. One example of that is the fact that the second season of a much-discussed Netflix Original series that was a hit with viewers will premiere in the coming weeks.
WWE: Unreal Season 2 Will Premiere on Netflix on January 20, 2026
On December 10, 2025, Netflix's official website published an article focused on the upcoming return of a hit Netflix Original docuseries. That article revealed that all episodes of the second season of WWE: Unreal will premiere on the streaming service on January 20, 2026.
The same article also revealed several details about what fans can expect from WWE: Unreal season 2, including the fact that it will consist of 5 episodes that will be roughly 50 minutes long. The upcoming season will focus on the events that took place on camera and behind the scenes as the WWE built to Summerslam 2025. That is the latest edition of SummerSlam, one of the WWE's biggest events every year that has been held annually since 1988.
Netflix's article detailed which WWE superstars will be the focus of WWE: Unreal season 2. Most interestingly, the article stated that the season will chronicle the first and only time that John Cena's wrestling character became villainous. The season will also capture the famous singer Jelly Roll wrestling for the WWE for the first time and Pat McAfee's work with the company. Other superstars who will be featured during WWE: Unreal include Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Cody Rhodes, Rhea Ripley, R-Truth, Naomi, Iyo Sky, Chelsea Green, Penta, and Lyra Valkyria.
WWE: Unreal Season 1 Was a Hit for Netflix
The first season of WWE: Unreal made its Netflix premiere on July 29, 2025. Just like season 2, the first chapter of the docuseries consisted of five episodes that were all released on the same day.
An August 2025 Figure Four Online article detailed how big of a success the first season of WWE: Unreal was on Netflix. Upon the docuseries' release, it became the 9th most-watched TV show on Netflix as it landed on the streaming service's global chart. According to information released by Netflix, the docuseries was viewed by 2.3 million users who watched the series 10.7 million times globally.
The docuseries' success made sense given that it gave a first-of-its-kind look at how WWE storylines are crafted and how the company's performers feel. While WWE documentaries had been released in the past, with wrestlers breaking character to discuss the industry, WWE: Unreal went further. For the first time ever, WWE: Unreal allowed viewers to see inside the writing room where the company's storylines are crafted.
