Archie Gray reacts to Thomas Frank advice and sets himself a huge target at Tottenham
Archie Gray has now spoken about his role in Nottingham Forest’s first goal during Tottenham’s 3-0 loss last week after Thomas Frank laid the blame at the youngster’s feet.
Thomas Frank refuted suggestions that Guglielmo Vicario was at fault for Forest’s first goal, suggesting that Gray should have played a pass first time rather than take a touch.
However, far from blaming the 19-year-old, Frank praised Gray for the bravery he showed by asking for the ball when under pressure.
The Tottenham boss suggested that the teenager would learn from the error he made, and the youngster has now reacted to his manager’s comments.
Archie Gray makes admission about mistake and Tottenham criticism
The Leeds academy graduate has now taken full responsibility for his role in Forest’s first goal.
When asked about Frank saying he should have played a pass first-time, Gray simply responded (via The Daily Mail): “Yeah, I agree with him.”
The youngster has been criticised for his error, but his teammate Vicario has received more flak than anyone else in the Tottenham squad this term.
When asked about the criticism from the outside, Gray responded: “Vic’s fine, Vic’s a grown man. We do this for a living. People criticise us all the time, so we’re used to it. I don’t listen to those people. Their opinions don’t matter to me. It’s obviously my mistake, and I’ll learn from that.”
Gray makes an admission about the Champions League aim
Gray comes from a family with a lot of football heritage, with his father, Andy, enjoying a long career in the Premier League, while his grandfather, Frank, was part of Nottingham Forest’s European Cup-winning squad in 1980.
The youngster has a lot to live up to, and he admits that he is driven to achieve what his grandfather did.
The Spurs man added: “I know my grandad was an unbelievable player. Not many win the Champions League, and that’s my goal in football, to try and do what he’s done.”
