Give your Christmas tree a second life after the festivities end
While households across Liverpool are looking forward to the big day this week, some may be thinking even further ahead to the inevitable clean up in the new year.
Liverpool City Council will once again open up a number of recycling points across the city to help residents dispose of their Christmas trees properly.
Anyone with a real Christmas tree can leave it at one of 13 drop off points between Friday 2 and Friday 23 January.
The full list of locations is:
- L4: Stanley Park, Priory Road car park
- L5: Everton Park, Viewing Platform, Netherfield Road North
- L7: Newsham Park, Gardener’s Drive, Sheil Road end
- L8: Sefton Park, Review Field, Ullet Road Gate
- L11: Croxteth Park, Oak Lane car park
- L15: Wavertree Park, Tennis Centre car park
- L17: Otterspool Promenade, first car park

Please only use the official locations to drop off any trees, signs will be in place to direct people when they arrive.
Alternatively, people can take their trees to one of the local recycling centres in Old Swan and Otterspool.
Last year, 70 tonnes of Christmas trees were recycled via drop-off points – the equivalent of almost 1.3 million mince pies.
In a similar method to home composting, all trees will be taken to be broken down by micro-organisms, creating nutrient-rich compost used in agriculture.
