Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Opens Up On Hair Loss, Jokes About Viral Footage
Jaylen Brown’s hair has made plenty of headlines this season. The Boston Celtics star has gone viral on multiple occasions when his hair treatment has rubbed off onto opposing players during games.
While Brown’s received plenty of flak and teasing for his hair episodes, JB is leaning into the mockery and standing tall, as if his elite production wasn’t already enough to silence the haters.
Jaylen recently opened up about his hair journey with People magazine, telling People’s Jackie Fields that he isn’t concerned with people shaming him on socials.
While Brown admitted that he was embarrassed initially when the footage went viral, he ultimately approached the situation with humor, grace, and a playful reminder that he’s an NBA champion.
“I was a little bit embarrassed,” Brown told Fields. “And then I got mad at myself for being embarrassed at all. After a while, it was like, ‘Those dudes should be grateful.’ They’re lucky that I left my mark on them. I should get a thank you card: ‘You have the residue of a champion on you. You’re welcome.'”
“I know a lot of people are afraid of embarrassment and afraid of failure and afraid of looking silly or whatever the case may be,” Brown continued. “And I started to notice about myself, one, I could care less. And, two, when those moments happen and people think they’re making fun of me, it actually makes me become a stronger, more disciplined, more focused individual. So I’m like, ‘Why not?’ I’d do it next week if I needed to get my mind to where it needed to be. I’ll rub my hair on three more teams.”
JB told People that he started experiencing hair loss in the last couple of years. He’s now looking to destigmatize hair loss conversations, and he’s open about using the hair growth supplement brand Nutrafol.
Like Michael Jordan before him, Jaylen’s hair loss isn’t getting in the way of dominance on the basketball court. Through 26 games played in 2025-26, Brown is averaging a cool 29.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per contest. The Celtics are 17-11, and Brown has put to rest all debates about whether or not he can be the No. 1 option on a winning NBA team.
The Finals MVP just keeps stacking accomplishments. Plenty of people think that Brown is on track to make an All-NBA team this season.
