Sonoma County under a flood advisory until Monday morning caused by prolonged downpours

Sonoma County was placed under a flood advisory by the National Weather Service on Monday at 12:24 a.m. The advisory is in effect until 7:15 a.m.

The NWS San Francisco CA states to be ready for, “Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall upstream along the Russian River has resulted in the Russian River at Geyserville reaching minor flood stage.”

“Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas along the Russian River between Geyserville and Jimtown is expected. At minor flood stage, water may begin to inundate the lowest floodplain locations on left (east) bank of the Russian River at Geyserville,” the NWS said. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.”
