Cruz Beckham Defends David & Victoria in Brooklyn’s Family Instagram Feud: ‘They Woke Up Blocked’
Cruz Beckham wants to “get the facts right” about the Beckham family’s latest drama — and says his parents David and Victoria Beckham “woke up blocked” by his brother Brooklyn and did not quietly unfollow him on Instagram.
On Dec. 21, Cruz shared a screenshot of a Daily Mail headline claiming David and Victoria had unfollowed their eldest son, then stamped “NOT TRUE” over it on Instagram Stories. “My mum and dad would never unfollow their son… Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I,” he wrote, telling followers that he, David and Victoria were all suddenly shut out from Brooklyn’s account, per Page Six.
Blocking someone automatically removes each account from the other’s followers and following lists. From the outside, that can look like a quiet unfollow, which is why fans and outlets quickly noticed that David and Victoria no longer follow Brooklyn — and that he doesn’t follow them or Nicola Peltz Beckham’s parents either — before Cruz jumped in to clarify.
Anyone who’s been following the Beckham family drama this year knows this didn’t come out of nowhere. The rift seemingly started around the time of Brooklyn and Nicola’s 2022 wedding, where the bride’s decision to wear a Valentino gown instead of a Victoria Beckham design wasn’t well received. Then came the first dance drama involving Marc Anthony and a spotlight moment for Victoria.
By 2025, the story had stretched far beyond wedding day drama. Reports described a brotherly rift between Brooklyn and Romeo over his relationship with model Kim Turnbull, who previously dated Brooklyn. Coverage also claimed David and Victoria had effectively chosen a side in the alleged feud between their sons when Brooklyn and Nicola skipped David’s 50th birthday celebrations in London while Romeo, Cruz and Harper appeared in the family photos. Brooklyn and Nicola then made headlines when they hired British lawyer Jenny Afia and reputation firm Schillings — the same team who have represented Meghan Markle in her privacy and media cases — to help manage ongoing coverage of the feud.
Social media has become its own battleground. Over the summer, a birthday tribute to little sister Harper reportedly prompted Cruz and Romeo to block Brooklyn and Nicola on Instagram. The new “woke up blocked” claim suggests that pattern has now come full circle.
Through it all, David has kept his public comments focused on parenting. In a recent podcast conversation, he said he feels “proudest” that his four kids are polite, well-mannered and humble, and that he and Victoria have tried to pass on the values they learned from their own parents.
Cruz’s post doesn’t explain the wider fallout, but it does spell out his view of the latest Instagram drama – and namely, that this wasn’t a subtle unfollow or a PR slight, but a very literal block that instantly rewrote the optics of an already-intense family feud.
