Keith Urban Reportedly Hated ‘Other Men Touching’ Nicole Kidman in Her Movies—It ‘Took a Toll’ on Their Marriage
Ever since Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban announced their separation, many sources have chimed in on the root cause of their divorce. Now, some insiders say that Nicole Kidman’s roles took a toll on their marriage.
A source told RadarOnline that the “Someone Like You” country singer didn’t particularly like what Nicole Kidman was doing on set. “Keith made it clear he wasn’t comfortable with the sexual side of her projects, even if he never said outright she should stop working,” the insider said. “He worried about how it looked, and he hated the idea of other men touching her, even if it was acting. Nicole kept trying to reassure him, but it got exhausting.”
The outlet previously reported that Urban felt disappointed about the way that the Eyes Wide Shut actress described her onset experiences as being ”so turned on.” In the movie Babygirl, Kidman plays a CEO named Romy who involves herself in an affair with a much younger intern played by Harris Dickinson. Netflix’s A Family Affair also deals with a large age gap, with her onscreen love interest being Zac Efron. “He was tired of hearing her rave about her sexual reawakening and animal attraction to her costars and has been living his own life,” a source said.
Kidman had been very open about how intense it was to film these scenes. In an post-screening Q&A for Babygirl, Kidman said, “There was an enormous amount of sharing and trust and then frustration. It’s like, ‘Don’t touch me’. There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm any more. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this.”
A source told Page Six, “Keith didn’t like the film and he didn’t even like Nicole promoting the movie,” an insider told the outlet. In fact, sources indicate Urban feared he would be mocked due to the film’s plotline.
News of their split broke on September 29, and Kidman filed for divorce the next day. The ex-couple share two children: Faith Margaret, 17, and Sunday Rose, 14. The Babygirl actress was reportedly “blindsided” by their split. “Keith has not been honest,” a source told People. “She wanted to save their marriage and believed that she could, but it seems he’s already moved on. It’s devastating to her. She’s shocked.”
