Assemblymember hosts toy drive for local nonprofit

Hoping for toys

Assemblymember Marc Berman recently hosted a holiday toy collection for children in need. From art supplies to puzzles to stuffed animals, Berman’s Menlo Park office received donations of new, unwrapped toys from community members.

The toys were delivered to Hope’s Corner, a nonprofit in Mountain View, for distribution to kids and families in the community who may need support this holiday season.

“We appreciate Assemblymember Berman and his team’s generosity,” said John Riemenschnitter, board president of Hope’s Corner, in a release. “The toys he collected—and personally delivered—will help brighten the season and bring joy to the children of 250 families in our community.”

Acting alone

A pianist/actor/writer who has portrayed multiple composers in shows for TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will be playing himself in the new year.

TheatreWorks is presenting the world premiere of “Hershey Felder: The Piano and Me” Jan. 17-Feb. 8 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Felder has long been a favorite of TheatreWorks audiences, with productions including “Hershey Felder: Rachmaninoff and the Tsar,” “Hershey Felder as George Gershwin Alone,” “Hershey Felder: Chopin in Paris,” “Our Great Tchaikovsky,” “Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin,” “Hershey Felder as Claude Debussy in A Paris Love Story” and “Hershey Felder: Beethoven.”

“Hershey Felder: The Piano and Me” features performances of compositions by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Bartók and more.
